Adeline and Toby were living in a park with a homeless man for three years. Brother and sister were dropped off at Animal Control as their companion could no longer feed this precious pair. They were left behind, because of fearful behavior. Stardust opened their arms to welcome Adeline and Toby. A beautiful family tried to adopt this bonded pair, however they could not heal from their past.

Agave was dropped off at Stardust with no place to go. Her person had a serious medical condition. Agave was not able to relate to some dogs. Stardust found Agave a forever home with a volunteer, her dog, cats and family. Agave has been adopted.

Alayne came to Stardust with a contracted leg. Alayne has a sister Annalise to watch over her. These precious souls enjoy the safety of an indoor bedroom and an outdoor pool for fun in the sun

Annalise was bred to have a large chest, which makes it difficult to get around, however this precious soul has a beautiful rhythm in each step. Annalise is best friends to Alayne. .

Autumn came to Stardust as her last hope. A three-year old with an urgent request. She accidentally nipped a child running during outdoor fireworks. Her family wanted Autumn dead, however a miracle happened with an adult family wanted to adopt Autumn. We are forever grateful.

B-flat lost her home, but gained a beautiful life here at the sanctuary. We are blessed to have her with us.

Stardust was called about a stray young pup living on the streets. Bea was brought into Animal Control on her last hope of self preservation, by growling and nipping. Bea was deemed unadoptable, with no place to go, she would be euthanized. It is a deep honor to be in the midst of the ones left behind. Stardust took Bea under her wing for healing. Beautiful baby Bea has been adopted and adored by her forever family.

Beautiful Bean. He loves and lives for B-flat. All the Muscovy ducks came to Stardust, after they lost their family and home. They have love, freedom, safety and each other for the rest of their lives.

Bella came to Stardust after she lost her home. Bella is shy and loves her space, however each day holds a gift of love, peace and understanding for this sweet pea.

Tiny Bo came to us because his beautiful voice was upsetting neighbors in his town. Stardust was his last stop before Animal Control. His queen is Esmeralda hen. 

Boo Boo was hit by a car before coming to Stardust. Her body was full of road rash. She healed well with some minor setbacks. Boo Boo recovered after a spay and heartworm treatment. She has also been diagnosed with a significant heart murmur. We are doing all we can to support this precious soul. Her best friends are Sweetpea and Melvin.

Boone was on the euthanasia list at Northwest rescue network. This group would not give up. Boone was adopted through his picture by a friend of Stardust. A miracle save for all hearts.

Brando came to us from Michigan as his last hope. He was abandoned and left outside at a shelter during the winter months which was unfortunately closed for the weekend. Brando almost froze and starved to death. A family adopted him, however his high anxiety needs did not work out with the busy city life of Detroit. His past is a mystery. We believe in our experience, Brando shows signs of brain trauma. Brando came to us with his name and we kept it not to make too many changes. The most relaxing time for this super special soul is when it is bedtime. It’s as if he feels he won’t starve or be abandoned. Brando does best when there is calm and quiet. His past is evident during the day. He watches and worries about everything. His need for self preservation is palpable. We love Brando for all that he is, and we pour our hearts and souls into him everyday.

Misunderstood by the age of three. This traumatized soul came to us with intensive fear aggression. With patience, love and understanding, still unwinding, he is forever safe at Stardust.

Buddy came to us homeless and broken. Severe heartworm, fleas, skin issues and a heart condition. We are forever grateful to his foster and to his home for Christmas miracle family.

Caiou started his life with oxygen deprivation and kidney medical issues. He could not make it in a home due to fear biting and trust issues. He has opened up softly here at Stardust. Caiou has recently been diagnosed with seizures. This beautiful soul has sponsorship.

Cari came to Stardust as a stray with a severe skin infection due to flea infestation. Thank you to her foster and her forever mom. Cari never stopped smiling and has zest for life.

Charlie came to us with severe trust and fear biting issues. He lived in a crate all of his life. After three days we able to gain enough trust to get him out of his crate, however it took us one year just to put a leash on him. We started working with Charlie while wearing safety clothing. Eventually we were able to walk him on a leash. Charlie has safe boundaries at his forever sanctuary here. Charlie has overcome separation anxiety which becomes aggressive. His past is left behind as he loves to shepherd the farm.

Chooch was taken in by animal control. This young girl had many puppies and was found roaming the streets. Her mom was called to pick up Chooch. She never came back. Six weeks went by. Chooch was on her last day, when Stardust found a foster to step in and save her life. Chooch is always wanting to please. Her medical is up to date. Chooch would love to have a forever friend beside her for the rest of her life.

Clarence is still overcoming his fear since he was abandoned. He is a delicate, gentle soul. Clarence has a forever safe haven at stardust and a friendship with a goat named Peanut.

Cowgirl came to Stardust as a young horse with a neurological disease called EPM. She also developed a suspensory ligament degenerative disease and Cushings Syndrome. We are awestruck to have her with us.

Daisy and Daffy came to stardust as ducklings. Their family had good intentions, but soon realized they needed a farm sanctuary to provide what they could not do for them a home setting.

Darhma puppy was abandoned at animal control with no place to go. Stardust took her under their wing knowing an earth angel needed her. Darhma has been adopted.

Delilah came to Stardust as an abandoned senior living on the grounds of a golf course. The only people she will let near her are children. We have built up her trust and safety at the sanctuary, however she is protective of herself around adults.

Dori Joy was saved on Giving Tuesday, the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. She is a border collie mix and showed signs of severe abuse. At just 1-2 years old, she came to us very underweight but her physical condition is easily repaired compared to the emotional trauma that burdens her within. It will be a long journey to fully gain her trust, but we are devoted to her and will never give up on her. Over time, she will understand that she will never be hurt or abused again. With Stardust, she has found her forever sanctuary.

Drum and his soul mate horse, Missy came to Stardust after his owner died. This couple lost their mother horse, human companion and their farm. They were left in an abandoned field until a forever sanctuary was found. Drum has a fracture in his front right hoof from his previous life as a racehorse. Sadly, Missy passed away in June, 2019. Weather Horse Drum hasn't been the same, however he has many friends, including a new love, Jazz who walk this journey with him. Comfort horse cookies help tremendously.

Dylan came from Animal Control as an owner surrender and was in an emergency situation to save his life. Stardust stepped up. We could not touch this terrified boy for six months. His fear aggression and resource guarding was extreme. Dylan has overcome so many hurdles in his life with time, patience and understanding. He is a champion to us.

Eden came to us broken down from lack of care. This precious soul had a serious skin infection and a huge mass half the size of her body weight. This little girl was found on the streets alone. Stardust came to her rescue. A beautiful foster has stepped in to give Eden all the love she so deserves.

Eleanor and Mable came to Stardust from an auction with no place to go. A Good Samaritan saved their lives. Shy at first, these girls have blossomed at the sanctuary. Sadly, we lost Mable in May of 2020.

Esmeralda ran away from a live market in the city of Chicago. Luckily, she knocked on the door of a smoothie restaurant. The good people brought Esmi to Stardust. She has a beautiful prince Bo as her rooster. 

Fiona came to us as a young biting stray. She had lived on the streets as a puppy. All of her actions were out of fear and protection. Stardust saved this precious soul on her last day at animal control. Fiona is quiet and shy.

Shortly after Stardust saved Mama Frankie, she gave birth to nine healthy babies. Sol Space Sanctuary had a Bunny nursery available. Frankie and her babies were transported to Wisconsin. They are living life as a dream come true thanks to this beloved sanctuary. Thank you

Gabriel came to Stardust with his brother after he was abandoned in a forest preserve during a harsh winter. This setback hasn't changed the softness of his heart. He is forever safe and loved.

Gandalf was abandoned in Minnesota after his folks went separate ways. He survived with his brother Clarence until Stardust found a way to pick up these two frightened boys. Gandalf was unable to be neutered because of complications, however he is enjoying the peace and harmony at the sanctuary.

Gertie lost her young mom to an illness. Gertie came to us from a friend so that we could provide an indoor living situation for this sensitive soul. Gertie is not up for sponsorship.

We became aware of a tragic neglect case on a private farm in Minnesota. Shockingly, there were deceased animals throughout the property. These three precious souls were going to die until wonderful humans stepped in to save them. They were in great need of medical care, especially Gregory who was suffering from chemical burns. He also has bumble feet and a deformity of his beak called scissor beak. All three of our new rooster friends are now out of quarantine and enjoying meeting new barn friends and at peace knowing they are safe and free.

Gus is a brother to Gabriel. Both boys were left to die in a forest preserve during a winter snow storm. Gus is a delicate innocent fellow. They will never be cold or hungry again. They are forever loved.

Happy came in to a rural IL animal control frightened as a young pup. Each week went by and Happy remained. The terror of not knowing if this is your last day put this poor guy into a rush of emotions. After four months, Stardust had an opening to save his life. At first Happy did not know what it meant to be free, be a puppy, just be. Happy was adopted into a loving family who continue to assist him in becoming whole. His brother Jax is his confidence and warm reminder that love is that matters.

Hazel came to stardust in 2012 from animal control. She had double pneumonia and was hospitalized for several weeks. Her undeveloped immune system was compromised as a kitten. Stardust is keeping her healthy and happy for the rest of her life. Hazel is a precious, perfect soul.

Henry and his friend, Louis, were found on the streets of Chicago. They were both taken to Animal Control as a temporary holding space. Stardust stepped up for these boys on their very last day of life. They have pure curiosity and joy with every leap and bound.

Huckleberry was part of a combined local rescue effort in 2018. This senior miniature pony was so fearful and resourceful that no one could get near him. One day, he stepped onto the trailer and became part of a new beginning at Stardust. Tiny Huckleberry is best friends with a horse named Drum.

Isaiah was dropped off by his family because he was living in a suburb and crowing

Jasper was rescued from animal control by Stardust. We could not turn our back on any precious soul left behind. Jasper completed his medical care and found his forever loving home with another rabbit, pot belly pig, dog and his new parents. Life is so good. Thank you

Jazz was our first companion horse who started the rescue with Laurie Kay. Jazz helped many people with Alzheimer's and she has a passion for children. She gently embraces each one with unconditional love and acceptance. Jazz has overcome many life threatening injuries. Yet the hardest was the loss of her best friend soul horse, Ariel in 2019. Jazz finds something amazing every day to live for. A healer and teacher to all. Jazz is not available for sponsorship.

Stardust was asked to step up for a young dog living in a shed. Jojo saw the light of day every day after this. This beautiful soul has been adopted.

Julius was picked up from animal control on his last day. A friend to Stardust stepped in to help us save this beautiful boy. Julius is adopted by his foster family. His smile is everything.

Nowhere to go. Living in a garage. This seven-year young lab ended up as fate would connect him to his soul mate. Kane is adopted.

Kenny was left behind when his companion passed away from a sudden accident. Kenny's siblings found new homes, except Kenny ended up in animal control on death row. Stardust saved Kenny on his last day alive. A volunteer from Stardust adopted this beautiful, loving boy.

Landen came to us as a one year old just before Christmas living outside this first year of his baby years with his fur family on the streets. This handsome boy has been adopted. All of his scars have healed and so has his soul.

Leo came to us as a newborn calf, having ridden in the back of Destination Liberation's Jason Bolalek's SUV. He came all the way from Vermont where he was destined to die for having been born a male on a dairy farm. Male calves (and often females, too) are standardly killed after birth so that humans can take the milk intended for the baby cows. Many people are unaware that cows must be pregnant to produce milk. They carry their babies for nine months before having them taken from them. Mother cows mourn day and night for their lost babies. We are grateful for Jason's ability to negotiate Leo's release. We wish Leo's mom could know that he is alive and well and living the good life with his BFF Sydney running and roaming the Stardust pastures and mooing very loudly for bedtime horse cookies! Here is a photo of Leo now. We think he is quite handsome!

Louis and his friend, Henry, were found on the streets of Chicago. They were both taken to Animal Control as a temporary holding space. Stardust stepped up for these boys on their very last day of life. They have pure curiosity and joy with every leap and bound.

Lucy was returned to stardust because of fear aggression. This misunderstood girl needed peace, love and a gentle routine in her life. Lucy still has many trust issues, but she has found a new beginning with friends and kindness here at the sanctuary.

Makayla was brought in to Animal Control with severe fear reactions. This young soul could not be adopted out. We are blessed to have the chance to save this precious young girl. As she heals, Makayla has a family interested in giving her a forever home. 

This tiny herd of four mini ponies, Allie, Moochie, Frankie and Tay were living in unsafe conditions between a frozen lake and a busy street. Stardust was successful at rescuing all five. Mama Tay and baby Bennie, Allie, Moochie and Frankie. Bless these precious souls. Bennie, Moochie and Tay are with a guardian friend of stardust. Benny and Allie have been adopted as a bonded pair as well. Each one lives in peace and comfort forever. Moochie is in foster care and is blind. Thankfully, Moochie has a donkey friend to follow.

Mason lived along the highway in a shed. Stardust was called to rescue this innocent boy as his living situation was becoming serious. Mason loves to trot and bounce. He is light and graceful on his hooves.

Maverick was listed on Craigslist as a baby. Giving away a companion animal on open sites puts them at high risk for abuse. Luckily, Maverick was a few houses down from Mason in Southern Illinois when we received a call. These boys bonded together as if they were brothers forever.

Young Melvin was at animal control due to protection. We are working one day at a time to unwind and live in peace and harmony for this precious soul. His best friend is Boo Boo.

Milo was living under a porch his whole your life. He accidentally bit a stranger who startled him. Milo ended up at Animal Control for a brief hold. A miracle of faith happened when Stardust stepped to save his life. Milo has been adopted out to family who understands Milo. 

Moondance was on her last day when Stardust stepped in. She is deaf, which hasn’t stopped her from living a full life as a mom to all new rescue dogs in her care. Her yard is her paradise. She loves tranquility and peacefulness

Nicholas and Vincent came from a humane investigation case. These roosters were left behind to be euthanized. Thank you to private rescue angels, the neglected roosters made their way to Stardust Animal Sanctuary. After much medical care, these precious souls are taking their first steps of freedom. 

Stardust stepped in to help another rescue with Oreo, a senior boarder collie. It takes all of us to help each one of them. Oreo was having trust issues with lunging and growling, as his last hope of self preservation. Time to unwind and just be. Oreo has a forever serene and peaceful home with his new mom, dad and two dog siblings.

Stardust found out about young baby turkey who was going to give away for Thanksgiving or euthanized. We had to step in to welcome this soft little man. Paco means freedom, free man and peace. We all need this. Thank you to the group of volunteers who stepped in to save Paco. 

Paisley made her freedom way to Stardust, just before Thanksgiving. A family met a flock of turkeys on display at a petting zoo, not realizing their fate after the petting zoo ended. They would be a Thanksgiving dinner. This devoted family was able to negotiate for her life.

Peanut lost her leg due to a tragedy before she came to live at the sanctuary. Stardust stepped in to save her life while she was in critical care. Peanut also has a disease found in goats (CAE). Nothing stops this girl from being on the move. Stardust is with her every step in life.

Penelope was having difficulty being part of a flock at her previous home. She came to us just after we lost our beloved Mable. Penelope was welcomed into the wings of every precious soul here.

Quinn lost his home. His crowing was annoying the neighbors. Stardust stepped in to save him along with his friend Quincy from going to animal control. Quincy passed in 2023, but Quinn carries on missing his friend but as crowing as ever. Quinn's cock-a-doodle-doos everyday are music to our ears.

Raffa was abandoned outside amongst wildlife. He survived three weeks until he was rescued. Stardust took him under our wings to safety and to complete his medical care. Raffa is now in the loving arms with The Wisconsin House Rabbit Society awaiting his perfect loving home.

Red Feen aka Gunner was saved from euthanasia. This precious soul waited eight months in boarding to reach Stardust. His Christmas miracle came true with a love story from his new family. While they waited for another dog, Gunner needed a foster through heartworm treatment. Fate brought them together as Gunner howled each day with his foster family. His warm presence was missed when he left. His foster family felt the same and adopted Gunner as their forever and ever love.

Rocky was left at Animal Control by his person. Most rabbits rarely make it out with the overwhelming amount of dogs and cats dropped off daily. This was Rocky's lucky day to be saved by the loving arms of Stardust. We could not have done this without you. Rocky was adopted by one of our volunteers. Thank you

Ronnie lasted at a shelter for eight months because of volunteers who believed in him. No one wanted this perfect senior boy. Until his family adopted Ronnie through his picture with Stardust.

Rosalie was living in a barn as a kitten. With time, she began to trust us enough to be part of her life. Rosalie felt safe enough to have all of her medical care done. While she was recovering, this precious soul fell in love with a volunteer and was adopted.

Saint was dropped off at Stardust because of his beautiful voice. It is devastating when someone leaves their family member. They are lost in emotions and grieve just like people. They don't understand what happened as they all bond to their family.

Sweet senior horse Sam has been through many hills and valleys. He is on top of the mountain here at the sanctuary. Sam has arthritis, copd and skin cancer, but it doesn’t stop him from trotting through it all. Sam is a blessing and available for sponsorship. We need all the help we can get for Sam’s hay and food.

This precious soul was on his last days at Animal Control. Sam was left behind when his companion passed away. Sam is afraid and unsure of people. With time, love and understanding, Sam will find his forever home.

This is Sam. His owner died in KY. We have a tutor teacher who could not adopt a dog, because of her age. She has had border collies her whole life. Then we found Sam.

Sandy came to us when her person lost her home. We rushed this precious soul to the hospital. Sandy underwent emergency surgery to save her life. Her bladder was full of sand. The doctor who cared for Sandy adopted her. Sandy is loved by two beloved rabbits. At the age of nine, she has just begun to live with all kinds of toys, rabbit tunnels and a forever family. Saraphina came to Stardust after she fell off a slaughter truck, going to a finishing plant when she was only three weeks old. Born on Christmas Day. This sweet precious soul is forever safe with Stardust.

Sarge was left at animal control after his veteran dad moved into government housing. Due to lack of space, this three-year old precious soul was scheduled for euthanasia. Thanks to the loving family and others who were called into action to save Sarge. He is now in his forever home.

Scout and Bear were truly in their last minutes, when a good dog samaritan helped Stardust to stand up and deliver love to the voiceless. Bear is insecure and Bear is getting a calm confidence. These two five-year old brother and sister would love nothing more then to have their own home as the only pair. Scout and Bear lived outside their whole lives.

Simba is a thirteen year old precious boy who was wandering lost in Southern Illinois. When his family did not come for him at Animal Control, Stardust saved his life. His vision and hearing are impaired but that does not stop this vibrant beautiful soul from living life to the fullest.

Sir Drake lost his home and became an emergency situation when Stardust stepped in to save his life along with his three siblings. Freedom and safety is a continual balance each day to enrich their beautiful lives.

Skye came to Stardust as a four-month puppy, because of fear biting. Skye was born and lived outdoors. There was no other way to protect herself as an infant. She was left by her family at Animal Control who could not help Skye recover. Euthanasia was her her only option. Stardust stepped is to save her life. We are here, open arms, ready to catch the ones who fall through the cracks. A bright new beginning for the one left behind. Skye is the limit. She has found her forever home.

Snow ended up at animal control on a catch pole after her house was overcome with carbon monoxide. Snow passed out and when she arose, she knew her human mom had passed. So sad. Snow’s fur family members were saved. Snow was on her last day.

A good friend of Stardust went to meet Snow and they never looked back. Snow has her forever stay at home family. They will never leave her alone again

Soldier aka Noah was severely beaten and suffers from seizures due to head trauma. We could not leave this innocent boy behind. A loving family friend who has experience with seizures has adopted Noah.

Spencer came to us from Georgia. He lost his family, his home and almost his life. He became a resource guarder as his last hope of survival. We continue to work with love and compassion on his terms while offering him a lifetime of trust and safey.

A good Samaritan reached out to Stardust about a twenty-three year young blue eyed blind paint  horse at a kill pen. This was his last stop as many others. Thanks to the outpouring support, Stargazer made his journey to Stardust. 

Summer came to Stardust beaten down with malnutrition, heart worm and breast lumps. Summer is so forgiving and embraces each day a a forever exciting moment. Summer has had heartworm treatment over the past few months and a spay. Her next procedure will diagnose her breast lumps. This girl has been precious and positive. Remarkable resilience. 

Sweetheart is getting his webbed feet wet here at the sanctuary. He was let go from his person after sixteen years. Time, patience and understanding for this Sweetheart to heal and love again. Sweetheart was recently diagnosed with a tumor in his wing and arthritis in his leg. Warm baths have been helping this boy to recover. He is a reflection peace.

Sweetpea was dropped off at Animal Control because of an immune disorder causing the muscles in her jaw to deteriorate. Sweetpea needs assistance with eating and swallowing. We are grateful to be of service to this precious soul.

Cow friend Sydney was left to die in a field in 2019 as a baby calf. A volunteer drove twenty hours to save his life. He is an angus cow which means cows like him are normally killed to be eaten. We are forever grateful to have Sydney here with us and so is his BFF Leo! He is a gentle spirit who never has Leo out his sight. They are inseparable.

Teddy, aka Stargazer came to Stardust after another rescue could not work with his emotional needs. Teddy had spent most of his life inside a stall for breeding. He had no contact with a herd, a companion or even daylight. Teddy witnessed every horse perish at his previous home before he was rescued. Over thirty horses didn’t make it. Teddy and two other horses survived.

Senior Theo was found with many wounds when he came to animal control in rural IL. Stardust stepped up to save his life. His body was oozing with skin, eye and ear infections. Theo had a long road ahead of him, being heartworm positive. Theo was adopted, but returned because of his anxiety. He is looking for his forever home.

Tika needed a place to live out her life, because of her emotional and physical needs.Tika has an issue with her left eye and both stifles.We are grateful to have this precious flower.

Tinkerbell was abandoned by her first person, given to a second person, who left Tinkerbelle at Animal Control. Tinkerbell was scared and confused about what happened to her life in the past nine years. She was passed over, because of being scared. Time was up on her last day alive. Stardust stepped in and ran to her rescue to save Tinkerbell. This precious soul has just begun to live in each moment of love, acceptance and happiness.

Valentina was ready to give up. Breast cancer, heartworm, congestive heart failure. She was dropped off at animal control in February, facing euthanasia. Stardust stepped in to allow this precious soul to live out each day of her life. Valentina would very much love a sponsor.

Violet was a former carriage horse and rescued by stardust on her last day of life. She was diagnosed with degenerative suspensory ligament disease throughout her body. Violet has many special needs, and we are here for her with a lifetime of love, compassion and support. Violet fell in love with her soul mate horse, Zippy here at the sanctuary. They tied their bond with a horse wedding.

Walter was living outdoors in a sub division with barely a shelter in all elements. His family purchased Walter at a breeder as a baby. As he grew, he became too large to be part of the first family he had ever known. Stardust stepped in to save his life. Walter has blankets for every season for comfort at the sanctuary.

Wiley was dropped of at animal control with an enlarged liver and possible liver shunt. Many vet and specialty appointments, diet and supplements saved this beloved soul’s life. Wiley loves people, dogs, cats, children and the most of all is adventures. Wiley has been adopted and is on his biggest adventure of love.

Willoughby rooster was living in a group of roosters who were much bigger than this petite boy. He came to Stardust beaten up and his spirit was down. Today, he is the guardian of our barn.

Wrigley came to us because she was dog selective and not agreeable with cats. She sat at animal control until her last day. Stardust could not turn their back as they saved this brilliant girl. Wrigley now resides with her family and is the center of their universe.

Zippy came to Stardust to save him from going to a University as a study horse. Zippy has so much pep in his step, even with special dietary challenges. Zippy has health and medical issues which cannot process hay. His caregivers serve warm hot meals around the clock to keep his weight up over the winter. Zippy is very athletic and loves to move. He met another rescue horse, Violet who has been a constant companion to him here at the sanctuary.
